Trusting Your Path

Let's dive deeper this week in the Write to release + MAKE peace journal exercise. I went on a 3 mile spirit walk yesterday and took this picture. I was contemplating times where I was struggling, lost and not listening to my heart or practicing self love. I used to literally tell people..."my intuition is always wrong". I laughed to myself when I remembered this yesterday. How opposite of the truth that statement is?! I now know that my intuition is the best thing for me to follow, in any sort of decision making situation. I love the idea of "going with your gut feeling", because it's usually the heart that speaks first. It's important for me to follow my intuition so that I am practicing trusting my path. We have to recognize that our journey is unlike anyone else's for a reason. Our path is continually teaching us lessons, so that we may grow and keep reevaluating. In this way, we are slowly but surely becoming the best versions of ourselves. If we try to compare or judge our path we will be left feeling confused and unsure of ourselves. Let's all contemplate what it means to trust your path, trust your intuition and listen to your heart, especially during those moments where decisions need to be made. 

Penney Peirce, author of the book Frequency, writes about journaling:

"Keeping a journal is a surefire way to track your growth process...you might play with direct writing, where you write straight from your core, letting a stream of words emerge as a spontaneous flow without censorship. begin by posing a question, which serves as a magnet to draw forth a response from the deeper part of your awareness. Let the first words come; they will draw in the next ones. Don't think ahead or second-guess what's being said. If a strange word comes to mind, write it down. Whatever is supposed to follow will simply occur next. To keep the flow going, it's best not to read what you've written until it is finished. you'll be surprised what you find yourself writing because it will be so fresh and accurate".

Keep Peirce's words in mind as you begin today's exercise, and please check out her book. It is astounding and I just started reading it!!

This week's journal exercise:

  • Write about a time where you fully trusted your intuition, and reaped the benefits.
  • Now, write about a time where you were confused and not sure whether your intuitive mind was thinking clearly. Maybe you chose not to "go with your gut". Maybe you allowed someone else's opinions skew your regular decision-making process. How did this make you feel? What was the outcome?
